Apple who introduced many innovative applications and functionalities in its range of smartphones did not include an important functionality to it. Apple "One-handed keyboard" could have been a brilliant feature, if it was enabled for the customers since its inception in iOS 8. There is no specific reason why it was not enabled to the customers for the use.

If rumors to be believed, it was due to Samsung phones included this feature initially and if Apple One-handed keyboard is implemented in its phones, it could lead to patent infringements. Developer Steve Troughton-Smith found the code for one-handed keyboard in iOS testing platform and posted about it on his Twitter account. It should have been enabled while swiping the keyboard left or right, using shift keys to the opposite side etc., reports The Verge.

Since Apple one-handed keyboard has not been activated, users won't be able to use it unless they do a jailbreak. But considering the fact that such phones won't receive the warranty cover from Apple, users of Apple phones are not advised to do that for one-handed keyboard, reports Express.

Even this year, Google and Microsoft came up with their own one-handed keyboards. Gboard from Google moves the keyboard to one side and Word Flow from Microsoft made the key board in the form of an arc for better typing, reports Mashable. Since the size of smartphones has got bigger in the recent years all the developers started thinking about one-handed keyboards to enable easy typing.

Since Apple decided to go for phones with larger display, it is required to give a better keyboard experience to the customers. Considering the 5.5-inch screen size of the recently released iPhone 7 Plus, Apple may come up with an update in future that can activate the hidden one-handed keyboard and make it available to its customers by surprise. Or is there a serious issue in Apple one-handed keyboard as the rumor says?
