Fans of Trigger's Little Witch Academia will be excited to know that it is scheduled to have an anime series next year. The TV anime is scheduled to air on January 2017, and each episode is to be 30 minutes, according to Crunchyroll. Netflix will stream the show internationally.

Stopru reports that Little Witch Academia's official website has released the first trailer for the anime on October 8. The tagline for the show reads "A new magic is now starting."

Anime News Network reports that the cast from the previous Little Witch Academia short will be returning to voice the characters. This includes Megumi Han as Atsuko "Akko" Kagari, Fumiko Orikasa as Lotte Yanson, Michiyo Murase as Sucy Manbavaran, Reina Ueda as Jasminka Antonenko, Yoko Hikasa as Diana Cavendish, and Noriko Hidaka as Shiny Chariot.

Studio Trigger's Yoh Yoshinari will return as director and character designer. Series composition will be handled by Michiru Shimada, who also penned the script for the 2015 Little Witch Academia film. Michiru Oshima, who composed the music for both the previous Little Witch Academia projects, will be returning for the series as well.

The plot focuses on Akko, who dreamed of becoming a witch after watching Shiny Chariot perform as a child. Akko enrolls in the Luna Nova Academy, a school for witches, meets new friends and starts a new life. However, her student life is not so easy as she and her friends keep getting caught up in dangerous events. What adventures will Akko and her friends get into? We can't wait to find out for ourselves next year!

Little Witch Academia was originally an anime short released in 2013. The popular show inspired the movie Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade, which was released just last year in July.
