Marvel definitely had the upper hand this time at New York Comic-Con with their slew of reveals for their television properties. Moreso, they won the crowd even more by announcing the inclusion of Sigourney Weaver in the upcoming Netflix-exclusive superhero show, "The Defenders."

It was announced last Saturday during the Marvel TV panel at NYCC by Jeph Loeb, the company's current head of TV. However, no details were revealed regarding the character she will be portraying, nor the actual plot we will be seeing in "The Defenders." However, it is believed that some familiar elements in "Daredevil," "Jessica Jones," "Luke Cage," and the upcoming solo outing "Iron Fist" will carry over to the team-up, similar to the vein of Marvel Studios' movies. Furthermore, Loeb mused that Weaver's role will be significant to the story.

Loeb also shared that both Jon Bernthal (The Punisher), and Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page from Daredevil) will make appearances, and the latter is set to play a recurring role in next year's "The Punisher."

The crowd went wild when the entire cast of the show (Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, and Finn Jones) appeared together for the first time, alongside Weaver, eliciting rounds of cheers from the audience.

Marvel's "The Defenders" is slated for streaming on 2017.
