Gravity Rush 2's release has been delayed into next year, reports ITech Post. Originally scheduled for this year December, it's been confirmed that the game will be released on January 20, 2017. It will be a PS4 exclusive release in Japan, says GameRant.

According to the game's director, Keiichiro Toyama, the delay is due to all the competition the game will be facing. Several games will be released this December, which include Pokemon: Sun and Moon, Final Fantasy XV, and The Last Guardian. All these games would have the same fan base as Gravity Rush 2.

While Toyama says he is confident that the game will perform well against other franchises, he says that he wants as many people playing the game at the same time. "As a lot of work went into online features that allow for asynchronous player interaction, we want as many people as possible playing the title at the same time.," says Toyama. This will also make sure that fans have the time to focus and dive into Kat's backstory.

Gravity Rush first came out in December last year in Japan, and in February in the US, Europe, and Australia. The game's plot follows a girl named Kat who had lost her memory.

Kat meets a black cat named Dusty who gives her the ability to control gravity. With her new powers, Kat decides to protect the people of floating city of Hekseville.

To make up for the delay, there will be a free DLC pack available. This DLC pack originally supposed to be for sale. According to ITech Post, the DLC is a story mission which takes place somewhere in Gravity Rush 2.

Rumors state that since the game will be released in Japan in January next year, the US release will be sometime within the first quarter.
