Apple iOS 10 Introduces Several Exciting New Features For iMessage

Earlier this month Apple released the iOS 10 the next generation, unveiling a whole range of improvements and new features. Changes were introduced across iMessage, Siri, Photos, Notes to name a few.

Of them, the iMessage app has received a significant makeover, with an eye towards matching the features offered by competing messaging apps like Facebook messenger, Whatsapp, and Allo.  The messaging app now has a wide variety of screen animations and features, thanks to the introduction of the Digital Touch module by Apple, to add a lot more fun to the app.

Here are some of the most significant new features now available within iMessage:

Installation of third-party apps

The integration of the App Store within iMessage app drawer will allow users to easily access the wide range of apps, extensions  and sticker packs available. Some are free while other are paid  JibJab, Star Wars Stickers , Disney Stickers are just some of the popular packs available. 

Link previews

With this feature, a preview image and the source website name appears when a link to an online article is pasted onto an iMessage, allowing users a quick glimpse. Any video link can now be viewed directly in the app, not requiring the opening of a separate browser.

Replace words with emoji

With a tap, iMessage will convert words into emojis. So the word monkey will pop up the monkey emojis and a tap on one of them will replace the word.

Screen effects

Using screen effects will change the appearance of the entire screen with sound and animation effects. Throw confetti, send fireworks or shooting star or perhaps shoot lasers.

Handwritten messages or Drawing directly in iMessage

The option of Handwritten messages adds a bit of personal touch. The feature allows the user to draw or write anything using a handwriting feature inbuilt inside the keyboard.

Bubble Effect

Bubble effects make the text come alive in iMessage with a number of varied 'reactions'. Slam, Loud, Gentle - are just some of the ways users can emphasize their message.

Invisible Ink

Another screen effect, Invisible Ink has added an altogether new way to send a message. Using this option will overlay the message with colored pixels which can be uncovered by the recipient with a swipe , adding a layer of privacy.

Play Games with friends inside iMessage

iMessage now allows games to be player right inside the app. An iMessage game needs to be downloaded from the store and a tap inside the app will pull up the game with an option to invite friends as well.
