Hailed as the most expensive TV series ever produced, with a budget of $130 million, The Crown is Netflix's latest up and coming series. The trailer for it has just been released, and we must say it does build up the hype for the show.

The Crown focuses on the challenges Queen Elizabeth faced as she rose to power after her father's death in 1952, according to The Daily Beast. It will give anglophiles a look at the private and personal problems, the political and personal rivalries, and the delicate balance between public and personal, all of which were part of Queen Elizabeth's reign. In The Crown, we will see how a young woman in her 20's learns to deal with being given great power in a world full of turmoil.

The series was written by Peter Morgan, who is known for his well researched scripts which reveal much of the queen's private life, as in his play, The Audience. The Audience is a play which focuses on the daily "audience" the Queen gave to prime ministers on Wednesdays. The Crown is said to be loosely based on The Audience.

According to The BitBag, the cast of The Crown has also been announced. Claire Foy will play Queen Elizabeth II, Matt Smith will play Prince Phillip, and John Lithgow will play Sir Winston Churchill. Other notable cast members are Victoria Hamilton as the Queen Mother, Dame Eileen Atkins as Queen Mary, Jared Harris as King George VI, and Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret.

The Crown is set to premiere on November 4 on Netflix, as reported by NetflixLife. Ten episodes have been set for the first season. Each season is supposed to focus on a decade of Queen Elizabeth's reign. So if the show becomes a hit, we're sure to have many more seasons to look forward to.
