"Mafia III: Rivals," a free-to-play mobile battle RPG is set for release on mobile as the company partnered with developer Cat Daddy.

Slated for release on October 7 for both iOS and Android platforms, "Rivals" will be set in the same locale as the game (New Orleans, better known as New Bordeaux in the game), but unlike its counterpart, the player has to fight his way through the criminal mob using RPG mechanics. There is also room for looting, base-stealing, and mob battling.

The latest press release from 2K regarding the game reads:

"Begin your life of crime squaring off against rival gangs in battle RPG combat. Recruit and train 40 crime bosses from the Mafia III universe as they join your crew, and destroy any foes getting in the way. Outfit New Bordeaux's newest hit squad with an assortment of deadly weaponry and other gear. Join up with friends and battle players worldwide to see who has the deadliest crew in New Bordeaux."

Pre-register for Mafia III: Rivals now at www.mafiagame.com/rivals for in-game bonuses when the game launches for free in two weeks' time.

On the other hand, "Mafia III" will be hitting shelves the same date as "Rivals."
