Season 33 of the beloved reality series Survivor hit the airwaves on Sept. 21. This  year's theme bring unique twist, featuring a clash between two generations and not an exotic location. Dubbed Millennials Vs. Gen-X,  the show's intriguing premise will see two generations going head-to-head. So one tribe has 20-something Millennials while the other has 30-plus Gen X'ers.

The show will build on the widespread notions that Gen. X'ers consider Millennials, often called "the participation trophy generation", entitled and laidback, with little drive to win while Millennials think of Gen X'ers as cynical, uptight and far too individualistic.

Fans of Survivor will get to see how the often opposing life philosophies of these two generations will play out the battle for survival. Will they behave in a stereotypical fashion or overcome their preconceived notions of working together?

Speaking to TVGuide on the eve of the premiere, Survivor host and executive producer Jeff Probst pointed out it gets really interesting when the tribes get mixed and they need each other to survive.

"It's really interesting because you need each other to survive -- literally survive, by making fire or catching fish, but you also need each other in terms of votes,' said Probst. "You don't have the luxury, as a Millennial, to come in and say, 'I don't work with old people,' in the same way that a Gen Xer doesn't have the luxury of saying, 'Kids annoy me. Get outta my way.'

Probst said that going in he had assumed that Millennials would not be able to make it since they simply don't have the life experience.

But in the Tribal Council he found he was most interested in talking to them as they were passionate, they had an enthusiasm for life and the game, and an exciting Devil-may-care attitude about tomorrow. In contrast, Gen X'ers seemed a little 'stuck-in-mud'.

The early days of the show will have a lot of the expected dynamics between the two generations but Probst hints that it may all shatter by the end of the season.

A lot of excitement is in store for viewers this season including a cyclone that needed evacuation and a twist in how immunity idols will be hidden, designed to perplex players.
