FUNimation to Dub One Piece: Heart of Gold in English

Looks like One Piece fans have more to look forward to. The TV special One Piece: Heart of Gold is set to be dubbed by FUNimation.

According to Crunchyroll, fans noticed in an NBC feature on FUNimation that the footage used in the report showcased a dubbing session with a clip from the recently aired TV special. FUNimation has yet to announce any release dates on when the dubbed version will be aired, but we're sure fans are keeping their fingers crossed.

Anime News Network reports that One Piece: Heart of Gold ties in with another One Piece film, One Piece Film Gold, which aired in Japan on July 23. One Piece FIlm Gold is set to screen in 33 countries worldwide. The TV special aired earlier, at July 16. One Piece Film Gold has done pretty well in the box office, earning around $48.8 million, according to Movie News Guide.

One Piece: Heart of Gold is about the Straw Hat Pirates' search for "Pure Gold". "Pure Gold is a mysterious treasure, sought after by Gild Tesoro. They meet a girl named Olga who knows where the treasure is, and journey to a legendary island called Alchemi.

The TV special can be watched as a standalone story.Creator Eiichiro Oda took special interest in the special, and made the new designs costumes as well as brand new characters.

One Piece has been running since 1997. It follows the story of Monkey D. Luffy and his gang of Straw Hat Pirates, who travel the Grand Line in search of the "One Piece". The person who has the One Piece is said to be the next King of Pirates.

The manga has sold over 380 million copies worldwide and has inspired several media, from anime tv shows, movies, models, games, and many more.
