It has been months since Xiaomi revolutionized the camera scene with the release of the Xiaomi Yi, an affordable action camera which rivals the GoPro line of cameras, and it would seem like the company's aiming on bigger heights, as they announced their newest product: The Xiaomi Xiaoyi M1 mirrorless camera.

Xiaomi made the announcement during a special panel at Photokina 2016 last Monday, as they showcased the unit's features and specifications to those present at the event. The camera will start selling in China for a price of 2,199 ($330) Chinese Yuan, and will include a 12-40mm f/3.5 - 5.6 kit lens. Alternatively, there is a second bundle priced at 2,299 ($450), which includes the 42.5mm f.1.8 prime.

While some of its specs were seen in previously released mirrorless cameras in the market (a 20-megapixel count, an ISO range maxed to 25,600), its ability to shoot 50-megapixel photos and record 4K movies at 30 frames per second makes up for its typical specifications. In addition, it sports a touch-screen which will allow room for users to maneuver easily through the camera's options. Furthermore, it houses a micro four-thirds sensor manufactured by Sony, which is packed inside a small body reminiscent of Leica's camera line.

DPReview previewed the camera and has voiced nothing but praise for the unit, placing emphasis on its build, sensor, menu options, and image quality.
