"Game of Thrones" stole the crown from American sitcom Frasier for breaking a new record at Emmy Awards, The Hollywood Life reports. Frasier earned 37 awards from year 1992 to 2004, while the sixth season of "Game of Thrones" grabbed the 38th Emmys this year. This includes the best drama series award which the series has won the second time in a row.

The late-night program Saturday Night Live still holds the spot of earning the most Emmy awards, however, it cannot be contested against "Game of Thrones" since its genre and timeslot is very much different from the drama series.

For this year's Emmy's, "Game of Thrones" was nominated 24 times and brought home 12 of the awards. The Battle of the Bastards episode got a notable commendation from the body. It gained the best directing (Miguel Sapotchnik) and best drama writing (David Benihoff and DB Weiss), The Guardian reports.

Even though nominated stars Maisie Williams, Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clark, Lena Headey and Kit Harington did not bring home individual awards, the "Game of Thrones" cast still managed to have a good time, as seen on photos they released on their social media accounts.

Saturday Night Live cast and comedian Leslie Jones went fangirling and posted a series of photos on her account as well, showing Game of Thrones stars. Meanwhile, Stranger Things and "Game of Thrones" fanatics went wild over this photo of Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington).

And of course, fans seeing and reacting to photos of "Game of Thrones" cast donning their normal suits and gowns are epic. A little comic relief from all the seriousness made this year's Emmy Awards an unforgettable one.
