Fresh off the success of the mobile app "Pokemon GO," as well as the impending debut of the upcoming 3DS game "Pokemon: Sun and Moon," the Pokemon Company has unveiled another animated miniseries which will aim to depict key events of the franchise's core handheld games.

Titled "Pokemon Generations," the said miniseries will tell the story of the games from different points of view - a stark contrast from previous animated outings which heavily featured the protagonists Red and Ash Ketchum. As the series' debut trailer implied, it will be depicting monumental events spanning from the Kanto Region, all the way to Kalos.

Some of the events included in the trailer are the following: A colossal battle with the iconic Red Gyarados from "Gold and Silver," a Machamp fight clip inspired by Pokemon Shuffle, the player's battle with Regigigas from "Diamond and Pearl," a massive encounter with the legendary Zygarde from "X&Y," as well as a face-off between rivals Blue and Red.

Furthermore, it was announced that the entire miniseries will be shown online on a weekly basis through YouTube, though it was stated that each episode will last for 3-5 minutes, which amounts to a third of an average Pokemon episode.

Hours after the debut of the trailer, fans were quick to notice its similarities with the four-episode OVA "Pokemon Origins." The said miniseries focused on the adventures of the first generation games' protagonist, Red, as he embarked on a quest to complete the Pokedex and capture all 150 Pokemon. Shortly after it was released, its episodes were uploaded online on Hulu and YouTube for accessibility.

On the other hand, things are looking bright for the main Pokemon anime as well, as the show is about to head to its next season. Inspired by "Sun and Moon," Ash and Pikachu will traverse the region of Alola and encounter its legendary, the deity known as Kapu Kokeko.

"Pokemon Generations" will premiere this Friday on YouTube.
