Ever since E3 2013, people have been on the edge of their seats waiting for Kingdom Hearts 3. Fans were also recently on edge because KH3 was removed from XBOX One listing, opening a panic about the game being a PS4 exclusive. However, this issue has recently been corrected, and the link returned. This, however, does not come with any additional information such as a release date or the start of pre-ordering.

Well, another juicy tidbit came out about the much awaited game: Kairi may just be a playable character in this next installment of the Kingdom Hearts series. The more steadfast following of the game has kept tabs on this specific possibility ever since Kairi was witnessed using a keyblade in the second installment of the series.

Kairi has been part of the franchise ever since the beginning of the game, as a potential love interest for Sora, but who had eyes for their friend Riku, as well. This sparked a sort of one-sided rivalry where Sora would compete with Riku for her affections. In the first installment, she was one of the targets of the heartless, but was eventually saved by Sora.

On this note, there is also speculation on whether Eraqus or Xenoheart will also be controllable characters. This was due to a hint given by game director Tetsuya Nomura. Added to that, it seems the game will be focusing more on Disney worlds in the coming game.

For now, focus seems to be on Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD Final Chapter Prologue, to hit stores this December. This is both for the producers and for the fans, but the game is a PlayStation exclusive.

Still, fans would just have to be ever vigilant in sniffing out news regarding this highly anticipated game. Development has been ongoing since 2013, and the best anyone can say at the moment is that the game is due to be released in the next year, ranging from January to April. It's also said to come out for the PS4 and Xbox One, with a tentative PC port possibility. All we do now is wait as we have been for the past three years, and hope the hype will not be disappointed when it finally goes live.
