The halls of the Bill Graham Auditorium at San Francisco were filled with excitement, as Apple finally announced the release of their latest flagship phones: The iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus.

Unveiled during a special launch event at the said venue hours ago, the two aforementioned phones will be hitting stores alongside the Apple Watch Series 2, as well as new set of wireless headphones called AirPods.

The new iPhone models will be coming in two sizes: a 4.7 inch and a 5.5 inch "Plus" unit. They will also sport several, new features such as improved water and dust protection, a new dual-lens camera with enhanced functionality, and a newly designed "Force Touch" panel.

As revealed previously by system analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the new iPhones will be available in five, new colors: Glossy Jet Black, Matte Black, Gold, Silver, and Rose Gold. Also noticeable is the increase in size of the memory options, as the range apparently widened from 32GB to 256GB.

Another welcome addition to the Apple lineup is the newly announced Apple Watch Series 2. Unlike previous iterations of the product, it now packs a stronger processor, as well as GPS connectivity. Apple has also revealed that Niantic has entered a partnership with the company, allowing them to exploit the device in lieu of the mobile game "Pokemon GO." There is also an option to buy a ceramic iteration of the unit, which is purported to be four times stronger than stainless steel.

Meanwhile, true to rumors circulating around the web, Apple has completely ditched the headphone jack in favor of the wireless powered AirPods. Furthermore, the iPhone 7 will be shipping with headphones that connect to its Lightning ports. Users need not to worry though, as Apple will be producing adapters that will be compatible with traditional earphones.

iPhone 7 prices start at $769 (£719, AU$1,269) for a 32GB version of the phone, but it'll also be available in 128GB and 256GB versions as well. The 128GB version of the phone costs $869 (£819, AU$1,419) while the 256GB version comes in at $969 (£919, AU$1,569). On the other hand, the iPhone 7 Plus' prices begin at $749 (£619, AU$1,129) for the 32GB version. The 128GB version then costs $849, (£699, AU$1,379) while the 256GB costs $949 (£789, AU$1,529).

Pre-order option for the new iPhones will open this September.
