Selfies can be dangerous; San Antonians killed in worst hot air balloon crash in U.S. history

The wedding anniversaries and a belated mother's day celebration turned out to be tragic incident in the history of U.S air balloons.

Lorilee and Paige Brabson, a mother-daughter duo, newlyweds Matt and Sunday Rowan and Brian and Tressie Neill, were killed on July 30 in a hot air balloon crash in Lockhart.

According to Chron news, the incident occurred when a hot air balloon strike a power line cables just after 7am.

The father of Paige Brabson's daughter wrote on Facebook July 31 saying, "Yesterday, the beloved mother of my daughter, Paige Brabson and her mother, Lorilee Brabson, both passed away in a tragic hot air balloon accident. All I ask for are prayers and good vibes not just for myself but the Brabson family as well."

Paige Brabson leaves behind an 11-month-old baby girl. A GoFundMe page has been set up for the Brabson's.

Chron reported that others were also found dead. Federal Aviation Administration records show that Nichols' commercial pilot's license for hot air balloons was current at the time of Saturday's crash. He received his license in 1996 and there were no clear documents that his license was suspended before. The deadly crash in the U.S history which killed 16 people, According to the National Transportation Safety Board. Heart of Texas Hot Air Balloon Rides, the operator of the balloon, has canceled all flights for the "foreseeable future." Previously, the company received a D+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.

The incident is under investigation by the NTSB and federal Aviation Administration. The weather conditions, the balloon's maintenance records, the pilot and all the necessary documents will be looked upon.
