People often hop onto Google to search for the alleged disease that they have when they develop some sough of mysterious headache or cough. However, they only end up getting panicked or anxious for no reason.

Tech giant Google has finally come up with a reliable way to prevent people from panicking and making false diagnoses while searching for a disease. The company has unveiled a new feature called symptom search. The new search facility offers legitimate information to the person who is searching for the symptoms online and that information will be specially curated by a team of experts from Mayo Clinic and Harvard Medical School.

The specially curated medical content will include basic information about common health conditions, according to the symptoms that a person is experiencing. More importantly, the new piece of information described whether the condition or its associated symptoms can be treated at home by the person in question or if serious medical help is needed. Currently, the symptom search facility is available in English and can be accessed through the Google Search app on Android and iPhone.

If a person searches for medical ailment using the traditional Google search box, the search engine typically points to other sites such as Medline Plus, May Clinic and WebMD. However, the person concerned has to go through pages of content, both relevant and irrelevant, to finally reach the text that they wanted to seek at first.

The new search simplifies the information and lists it together in a single page. In fact, it lists all the symptoms found in search results and checks them against the medical information collected from the doctors to create a Knowledge Graph. The graph is the actual attempt made by Google to represent and deliver a comprehensive collection of data in a simplistic manner.
