Season 6 of 'Once Upon a Time' will return this fall, which means the wait is going to be long. But it will be worth it for it has many gifts in store for viewers.

According to reports, the current characters of the show will be seen in a new way. Also, new characters, beyond the realm of fairy tale, will be making an entry. Showrunners Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz have indicated a change in the format of the series. They revealed that instead of two halves in one season, there will be smaller arcs.

Kitsis said that the forthcoming season will be different from the past ones as it will not follow the old format of Hydes coming to town, the heroes fighting with him for 10 episodes and then the finale ending with his death and the show moving on. He said that they are changing the show this year and going back to season 1 mentality of smaller arcs and small-town stories.

As for the characters, Horowitz said that the upcoming season will provide the viewers an opportunity to look at them in a different way. He stated that the exciting part is that it will happen in Storybrooke again. Referring to the finale, he said that Evil Queen's split is allowing them to do the same, with lots of other characters.

Well, the news does sound like it will be a total makeover for the fantasy drama but this is not the case. The current cast will remain intact and there will be ample scenes featuring them. As for old characters' return, especially Tinker Bell's, there is no news from the showrunners. But actress Rose Mclver (who played Tinker Bell in 8 episodes) talked about her possible return.

She said that they have tried a few times to bring her back but it is difficult to match her schedule as she is currently shooting for iZombie. However, she expressed hope about it happening at some stage since all are in Vancouver at present and her current showrunner is a good friend of Kitsis and Horowitz.
