Sir Elton John and long term partner David Furnish exchanged wedding vows on Sunday in England after nine years of being in a civil partnership since 2005 and months after same-sex marriages are legalized in the UK since March this year. Friends, family, celebrities and the couple's adopted sons: Zachary, three and Elijah, 23 graced the occasion.

The Daily Mail showed wedding pictures that the British singer has posted in real-time in his Instagram. In one picture, their three year old-son Zachary hugs one of his dads' legs while the two of them are in the middle of exchanging vows.

The picture bears the caption, "Zachary grabs David's iPhone and takes a photo of his brother while we exchange our vows. #ShareTheLove."

Another picture shows the crowd while the Elton and David are seated in front of a female reader. The photo is captioned, "The exchange of vows. #ShareTheLove."

In another picture, the singer-songwriter sat with his spouse while they are signing their marriage contract. They caption the photo saying, "That's the legal bit done. Now on to the ceremony!"

The Huffington Post said that the menu consists of traditional and posh cuisines composed of wild mushroom soup with truffle cream, beef short rib with caramelized onion pie and warm chocolate pudding with vanilla ice cream for dessert. A photo of the menu was taken in the personal Instagram account of Brooklyn Beckham, David and Victoria Beckham's son.

Weeks ago, Sir Elton John has revealed about his wedding plans. The announcement followed after he also praised England's government in allowing same-sex marriages and upholding LGBT rights in general.

"Having our civil partnership was an incredible breakthrough for people that have campaigned for a long time - through the 60s and the 50s in England when it was so hard to be gay and hard to be open about it. And it was a criminal act," he previously said.

Friends of the couple have given out their greetings on Twitter. BBC quoted some messages of celebrities who posted on Twitter saying,

"What an incredible day," as Gary Barlow wrote.

Graham Norton also said, "Huge congratulations to Sir Elton John and David Furnish. Married at last!!"
