If you are a Windows Phone user, and love Snapchat, here's a bad news for you. Microsoft is taking down all third party Snapchat apps from the Windows Phone Store. The step is an anticipated one as Snapchat had confirmed in November to crack down on all third party apps.

Windows Phone doesn't have an official Snapchat app yet, and to use the service, users had to rely on third party apps such as 6snap. Users who have already downloaded and using third party apps, their accounts are also being penalized. This simply means that Windows Phone users cannot use Snapchat, at least not for now.

Rudy Huyn, developer of 6snap, said he will "work closely with Microsoft now to convince Snapchat to change its mind." However, Snapchat is taking a zero tolerance approach to third party apps after two of them were blamed for leaking million of user IDs and passwords.

Snapchat is also working on a development kit that would allow third parties to build substitutes through an official API without security headaches, according to reports. Though, a release date for the development kit remains unclear.

Snapchat also recently introduced video advertising, therefore keeping the service away from third parties, gives the photo messaging application absolute control over targeting its user base.
