The Supergirl series has left CBS and is progressing towards the CW for the second season. And the storyline and characterization would bring in a stark intersection between the other comic series on the network. The series of interesting intersections start with the introduction of Superman - as he debuts in the 'Supergirl' which in turn brings the question - Who would play the character?

According to reports, Warner Bros TV has officially announced that Superman would make an entry in the second season of 'Supergirl' on the CW. He would appear in the introductory two episodes, something fans are extremely excited about. The recent statement released by Andrew Kreisberg - executive producer of Supergirl, revealed the thrill and excitement amongst the cast of the series.

But, after the revelation, fans are now contemplating which actor would play the role of Superman. The social media is flooded with speculations, and there are strong speculations that Tom Welling could possibly clinch the deal. He has been playing the role of Clark Kent for many years, and fans would love to see him play the role of Superman in 'Supergirl' as well. However, Welling has described his shows as completely different from today's trend. So, whether he will feature as Superman in the show is not confirmed.

The other superman contenders include Dean Cain, who took on the role of Clark Kent many years ago. Brandon Youth too played a similar role in DC's Legend of Tomorrow, airing on CW. However, there has been no official news on the selection of actors.

Going by fans' sentiments, Tom Welling stands a gamble for playing Superman. But there are chances that the character of Superman might be played by someone entirely new.
