Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib reportedly suffered minor gunshot wounds to his lower right leg after a shooting that took place at a strip club in Dallas. Currently, Talib is getting treated at a local hospital and is expected to be medically released on Monday. As a result of the shooting incident, the Broncos cornerback will not make it to the team's White House trip.

"We are in communication with Aqib Talib, who remains at a Dallas hospital for observation as he recovers from a gunshot wound suffered to his lower right leg on Sunday. He is expected to be released from the hospital soon, and we are glad he is OK and will make a full recovery," said the Broncos as quoted from their official statement via Denver Post.

As reported by ESPN, a bullet entered and exited the cornerback's leg without hitting any artery or damaging ligaments. Following his hospitalization, Talib got stitches with no need for a surgery. This means that nothing will prevent him from playing in the field as well as taking part in Denver's offseason preparations. After their SuperBowl 50 win, the team requires its players to attend the minicamp which will kick off starting Tuesday.

With no serious injuries, Talib will reportedly leave the Medical City Hospital on Monday but will certainly miss Denver's White House trip alongside his teammates for a meet-and-greet honor with President Barack Obama following their SuperBowl championship.

As for the police update regarding the incident, Talib was reportedly one of the three known people who got shot on early Sunday morning at the Vlive Club. Dallas police authorities recently stated that they are currently investigating the matter within the club's premises.

Meanwhile, Talib's latest incident was not the first time he was lured into a string of controversies. Six years ago, the cornerback, then a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was slapped with a suspension as the start of the 2010 season, he was charged with simple battery and resisting arrest while vacationing in St. Petersburg, Florida, USA Today reported. In 2011, the NFL player alongside his mother were also charged with aggravated assault after running into violent confrontation with his sister's boyfriend.
