Ever since Nina Dobrev announced her exit from 'The Vampire Diaries' after season 6 in 2015, fans have been upset as they loved the classic chemistry between her and Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore).

And the fact that they were also a real life couple for three years, made fans like them all the more strongly. So, when season 8 was confirmed by CW earlier this year, everyone began talking about Nina and Ian's reunion. Speculations started doing the rounds far and wide but there was constantly a cloud of doubts over the fans' wishful guesses. But now they seem to have vanished.

According to reports, showrunner Julie Plec has said that she is working hard to bring Nina back to the series. Though she did acknowledge her professional commitments and how she was clear about pursuing her career outside CW's fantasy drama, the showrunner is sticking to her plan to make her return. Another inside source has also confirmed her comeback along with Ian. Though the way or form that will see her coming back was not revealed, she will certainly be there.

It may be mentioned here that Nina and Ian were not just lovers on screen, they were also seeing each other off screen. They had joined the cast of 'The Vampire Diaries' in 2009 together and initially Nina aka Elena was paired with Paul Wesley aka Stefan but later the storyline took a twist and she was made to fall in love with her brother Ian aka Damon.

Ever since they came together, they shared a sizzling chemistry and it was greatly appreciated by fans and critics. When they started seeing each other in real life, fans were all the more happy. Sadly, things took a tragic turn and they separated in 2013. Now, Ian is married to Nikki Reed and Nina has also moved ahead in her life.

But fans still love them and want to see the couple sharing screen space together. Season 8 returns to the screen by fall this year.
