In the week since Amber Heard filed for divorce from Johnny Depp, there have been a number of "domestic abuse claims, a restraining order, and anonymous he-said/she-said accounts" swirling in public.

Meanwhile, a huge wave of public support has been gathered for Johnny Depp from the actor's daughter, Lily-Rose, his ex-partner of 14 years, Vanessa Paradis, as well as his close friend, Doug Stanhope.

Hence, Heard's lawyers have come out in public with a lengthy statement alleging that Depp's team is "miscasting the victim as the villain."

The actress began to live with Depp in 2012 and married him in February 2015. They had a celebration at his private island in the Bahamas.

Amber Heard's lawyer, Samantha F. Spector as well as her co-counsel Joseph P. Koenig record that the client "can no longer endure the relentless attacks and outright lies launched against her character in the Court of Public Opinion."

Laura Wasser, Depp's lawyer, charged Heard of trying "to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse."

Depp's friend, Stanhope, said that he has watched Heard "manipulate and f- with [Depp] for years.")

While the truth is not really out, it is pointed out https://www.eonline.com/news/769019/the-disturbing-reaction-to-amber-heard-s-domestic-violence-allegations-against-johnny-depp-why-it-matters that "So Heard has been the villain from the start, due in part to some old-fashioned hatin' for no reason, and also because of what can be described as a misplaced sense of ownership that fans have over their favorite stars."

On the other hand, Spector and Koenig defend that Heard "suffered through years of physical and psychological abuse at the hands of Johnny." However, she did not give any statements to authorities earlier, even on the evening of "the tragic events of May 21." On that day, Heard said that Depp struck her with a cell phone. Earlier, her attempt had been "to protect her privacy and Johnny's career."

"As the result of Amber's decision to decline giving an initial statement to the LAPD, her silence has been used against her by Johnny's team," the lawyers continue, adding that Heard has given an official statement to the L.A.P.D. to "set the record straight as to the true facts."

"In reality, Amber acted no differently than many victims of domestic violence, who think first of the harm that might come to the abuser, rather than the abuse they have already suffered," say Spector and Koenig.

The legal team said that finally when she did decide to go ahead and file her divorce, she acted discreetly.

"From the beginning it has been Amber's desire to keep this matter as private as possible, even though LAPD officers responded to a 911 call made by a third-party," Spector and Koenig allege.

The divorce papers could even have been given to him at the premiere of his latest film, Alice Through the Looking Glass, right before the media and photographers. Yet, they clarify that "we sent a letter to Johnny's counsel team the next morning making it clear we wanted to keep this matter out of the media."

"We took the high road," Heard's legal counsel alleges. "Unfortunately, Johnny's team immediately went to the press and began viciously attacking Amber's character. Amber is simply a victim of domestic violence, and none of her actions are motivated by money. Amber is a brave and financially independent woman who is showing the courage of her convictions by doing the right thing against Johnny's relentless army of lawyers and surrogates. . . . Amber is the victim. Amber is a hero."

Earlier, on Sunday, comedian and close friend Doug Stanhope published an open letter in the Wrap. He said that the actor's inner circle had "watched [Heard] manipulate and f- with him for years. . . . And we didn't say s-. Because he's Johnny Depp. And we didn't want to be thrown out of the circle for saying that The Emperor was being Stripped of His Clothes."

That article is labelled "outrageous" and "absolutely and unequivocally false" by Heard's lawyer.

Depp's lawyer, Laura Wasser, however, countered: "Johnny is currently out of the country for work. He is unable to attend the hearing on this matter and has not heard Amber's specific allegations against him. He nonetheless has every intention of staying away from Amber."
