Kpop News: Red Velvet prepares for comeback this summer

Red Velvet is set to make a comeback this July. The girl group will be releasing a new album!

Red Velvet's label, SM Entertainment released information regarding the group's comeback, the agency stated, ""Comeback preparations are in progress. Red Velvet are working on a new album, and once the comeback date is confirmed, we will make an announcement." As allkpop quoted.

The label responds to the group's comeback as to series of media reports spreading on the internet.

Red Velvet's latest comeback was in March 2016, they released their second mini-album with their title track "One of These Nights". The album showcases the smooth R&B-influenced "velvet" side of the group's concept and is a direct follow-up album to The Red, which highlighted the band's bright and bold "red" persona.

Summer will be a full packed of comebacks with other girl groups such as, EXID, Wonder Girls, SISTAR and GFRIEND.

Red Velvet debuted on August 1, 2014, with their digital single "Happiness."

Since their debut, Red Velvet has experienced notable success and recognition. In September 2015, the group's first full-length album, The Red, topped the Gaon Album Chart and the Billboard World Albums Chart. Red Velvet has received a total of eleven music awards, including two awards for choreography; Best Dance - Female and Best Dance Performance - Female Group, as well as three new artist awards.

Red Velvet members have also made television appearances; Irene as a host of Music Bank,Yeri as a host of Music Core,and Joy on the fourth season of variety show We Got Married.

The name of the group signifies the concept of two constrasting things which is "Red" and "Velvet". "Red" signifies their vivid and bold image, whereas "Velvet" reflects their classy and toned-down side. The group is consist of five members, Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy, and Yeri.
