Almost six hours before his body had been found, Prince may have died, a new report on his final hours says. He was given fluids intravenously one day before he died, The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.

Despite showing a calm face, he was thought to have become increasingly agitated after his emergency treatment for an opioid overdose on April 15, according to the Star Tribune on Saturday.

A paramedic told staff, law enforcement officers and others at the scene that Prince might have been dead for at least six hours before he was found to be "unresponsive" in an elevator at his Paisley Park complex on April 21.

He had been alone when he died, and the police do not believe that suicide or foul play was part of the crime.

One of the staff members had called a person in New York, who had been with the musician. He had sought out some advice on April 20, it is revealed.

A source confirmed that later during the day, Prince had been given an intravenous treatment at a local hospital.

It was not clear, though, whether Prince had been administered the intravenous treatment before or after the doctor who treated him for withdrawal symptoms made a house call on the evening of April 20.
