The highly-anticipated sequel to Disney box office hit Frozen is generating a public social media debate regarding Elsa's possible lesbian identity in the movie's upcoming installment.

So what's this controversy all about that seems to polarize fans from opposite sides of the social spectrum?

Well, there plenty of rumors doing round online suggesting that Princess Elsa of Arendelle will finally be tweaked to reveal a lesbian character as what many pro-LGBT activists have been fighting for- an increased gay representation in Hollywood films. Their advocacy morphed into a social media campaign with the now viral hashtag #GiveElsaAGirlfriend circulating all over the internet, the BitBag reported.

As reported by Movie News Guide, some social activists have suggested remaking Elsa's lesbian identity through subtle means such as finding a female partner for the reclusive princess to be with in the sequel.

Equally active from the other side of the social spectrum are the conservatives who are keen on preserving the moral integrity of the film. A homosexual rebranding of Elsa's role would compromise the so-called family-oriented values that the film intends to teach to children.

Right Wing Watch, a Christian-oriented advocacy movement, has started their own campaigns to roll back LGBT movement's influence. Another group, Citizen Go, is launching a campaign to pressure Disney to give Elsa her 'Prince Charming' in the next movie.

"Disney is facing fierce pressure from liberal groups who are demanding their writers turn Queen Elsa into a lesbian during the sequel, 'Frozen 2. With our petition, we're suggesting Disney with a much better idea. An idea that promotes solid family values to our children and represents the natural family," said CitizenGO CEO Gregory Mertz as quoted in a report by Christian Today.

As of press time, Hollywood entertainment giant Disney has refused to comment on either campaign. Elsa was last seen in the short-film spinoff 'Frozen Fever' without any love interest. Frozen 2 is expected to hit theaters worldwide in two years' time but no specific date of release has been announced at the time of this writing.
