Smartron Phone Release Date: Smartphone launched at 350$: A Sneak Peak into the Specs

Indian startup Smartron has launched its first smartphone in the country, the t.phone. The smartphone has been priced at Rs. 22,999, and will go on sale in early June via Gadgets 360 and the Smartront.store, with registrations already open. The company had launched its laptop-tablet hybrid, the Smartront.book (Review) in March.

The dual-SIM (Micro-SIM + Nano-SIM card) Smartront.phone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and sports a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) Super Amoled display with a 401ppi pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The company is also touting the Apical Assertive Display technology for improved sunlight legibility.

The t.phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 SoC coupled with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. It sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with an Isocell sensor and a dual-LED flash. The front camera is a 4-megapixel offering with 2-micron pixel size for better low-light performance. The smartphone bears 64GB of inbuilt storage that's expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB) and unlimited t.cloud online storage.

The Smartront.phone features a dual-tone metal body and is said to be the lightest smartphone it its category at 149 grams. It will be available in Classic Grey, Metallic Pink, Steel Blue, and Sunrise Orange. It is powered by a 3000mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0 support and a USB-Type C charger. It features the standard connectivity options, including 4G LTE support in India.

Speaking on the launch, Mahesh Lingareddy, Founder and Chairman of Smartron, India Pvt Ltd, said, "Smartrontphone is a great addition to tron generation of Smart Things to Come and critical to the tronx experience. It is one of the most exciting devices in the line of products that the brand plans to launch this year.
