Rockstar Games has not confirmed anything about "RDR 2." However, the fans are already looking forward to the western action-based sequel. There are also rumors that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will launch this year at Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June, 2016.

Ever since the "Red Dead Redemption 2" leaked map has been released, there have been speculations that suggest that there may be a possibility of "Mafia III" connection. A city of New Bordeaux, "Mafia III" city, has been added which could only mean an interesting crossover for "RDR 2" fans, provided that the rumors are indeed true.

Even though there have been strong rumors that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will be announced at the upcoming E3, there have been new set of rumors that suggest there will be no announcement about the game at the event. Another false report doing the rounds is that the game title will be "Legends of the West." Despite the rumored title being fake, Rockstar games did not offer any statement to quell the speculations.

As far as the release date is concerned, there have been reports saying that the sequel will not launch in June, as has been previously anticipated. This is because the parent company of Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive, does not follow a policy of releasing sequels annually.

"It's tempting to have continuous releases and milk a franchise as far as you can, [but] we've seen that fatigue in other franchises in the games industry," Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick said early this year. "With almost every single franchise for us, the latest release is bigger than the one before."
