Season 12 of 'Grey's Anatomy' is about to wrap up as only two more episodes are left. But viewers can expect a lot in this short span of time and if you are a fan of Alex and Jo, you should brace for some bad news.

If actress Ellen Pompeo's (she plays Meredith) words are any indication, the couple is heading for a split. According to reports, she has revealed in an interview that things are not good between them and Jo is pushing him away. She added that there is a big Alex and Jo situation happening that will shed light on why they have not gotten together yet.

Notably, Alex and Jo have gone through their fair share of ups and downs. Her unwillingness to get married and his efforts at proposing her have caused a good deal of troubles and now that Meredith is single again, Alex might get close to her.

Viewers have been speculating about a hook-up between these two as they are longtime friends. After McDreamy's demise at the end of the last season, fans were guessing about Meredith's next romantic partner and earlier this season, some also thought that was expressing his romantic feelings while taking care of her and her children when she was injured.

However, some just thought of it as a warm gesture of friendship. Well, now that Alex and Jo are going through troubles with not much possibility that they will reconcile and Alex and Meredith may come together.

Still, it is notable that Ellen had said earlier that she does not think her character will fall for Alex. She had stated that their bond is way too special to turn into a romantic relationship. She even added that she shares friendship with many men and so does Meredith with Alex.

But does that mean the showrunners will stick to the actress' point of view and refrain from bringing a romantic angle. With the new episode trailers teasing about one shocking hook-up and two proposals, their chances of coming together are quite high.
