Jared Leto is known to immerse himself into the characters that he plays in the movie. For his role in "Dallas Buyers Club," Leto lost 40 lbs and then for his role as John Lennon's killer in "Chapter 27," he regained 60 lbs. He is also rumored to have gifted Margot Robbie, playing his partner Harley Quinn, a live rat.

He is now all set to play Joker in the upcoming "Suicide Squad" and in preparation for his role, Leto had series of interesting experiences that he shares with his fans.

Leto gave a little glimpse on how he prepped for his role as a Joker and sharpened the infamous cackle which has been featured several times in the movie trailers.

"I worked on the laugh walking around the streets of New York and Toronto, and I kinda would walk around the streets and see what laughs would get under people's skin," Leto told the hosts of CNBC's "Squawk Box."

"You know when you hear someone laugh at a restaurant? It's a little jarring. I tried them out. And I kind of got to a place where I would laugh and people are always turning around like, 'Who is this creepy guy behind me?'" he added.

Jai Courtney, playing Captain Boomerang, told MTV about Leto's role and said, "I don't know how you measure that these days. I haven't seen him, since we started working, out-of-character, let's put it that way."

The fans can see Joker when "Suicide Squad" releases in theatres on Aug. 5.
