"Supergirl" Season 1 came to a close in April and ended with a cliffhanger. Logically, the second season of the show should have been announced by now, especially now that it has been almost a month since it ended. However, there has been no word yet about the second season. The fans are now taking to the internet to search for reasons why the show is delayed or is it cancelled?

"Supergirl" season 1 aired on CBS Network, but the rumor has it that the second season will be aired on CW. The reason for the switch is not only because CW is where most DC comic shows run, but because the Warner Bros. licensing fee is too high for the its budget.

The reports indicate that CBS wants "Supergirl" to continue on to season 2, but the show ratings do not justify a $3 billion budget per episode. "Supergirl" currently is the only show that attracts highest licensing fees, forcing network president, Leslie Moonves, to talk it out with Warner Bros. The negotiations must take place soon as CBS will announce its schedule for the Fall season by May 18.

If the discussions do not reach fruition, rumor has it that fans may switch networks to see the second season of the show. "The Flash" and "Arrow" are already airing on CW and it makes perfect sense for "Supergirl" to switch over to CW.

However, there is always a possibility that the show may be canceled altogether if the networks fail to make the Season 2 a success.

An official statement about the show's fate should come out soon considering that TV networks will release their Fall schedule starting with NBC on May 15.

The CW will announce its lineup on May 19.
