Manchester United have found it difficult to sustain their status as a winning machine since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson and in addition to that there have been rumours of high level infighting among groups who want Jose Mouinho to be the next manager and those who don't. In a startling revelation, it has emerged that Manchester United's assistant manager and club legend, who played for the club for two decades has given the club the ultimatum that he would resign from his position if Jose Mourinho is made the manager of the club. Now, there have been rumours that Sir Bobby Charlton, a member of the board at Manchester United and Sir Alex Ferguson do not want Jose Mourinho to be the next manager, simply because they do not approve of him as a manager but in case of the Giggs the situation is completely different.

According to the reports published in the British publication The Daily Mirror, Giggs took up the assistant manager's job at Manchester United with a view to becoming the manager at some point in the future and after having served in his role under David Moyes and Louis van Gaal, he believed that he should be given the opportunity to manage the first team if Dutchman Van Gaal is replaced at the end of the current season. Some of his team mates from the legendary 'Class of '92' have also urged him to quit his position at Old Trafford and instead manage a club so that he can build his reputation as a first team manager in a top level league.

Gary Neville, one of his closest friends and also a partner in a business venture, has reportedly asked him to take his leave from the club if the board appoints Jose Mourinho as the manager and overlooks him. More importantly, Jose Mourinho works with his own set of assistants and coaches and Giggs is quite likely to find himself marginalised if he decides to stay on as the assistant manager under his regime.
