Among the hundreds of fan theories revolving around Game of Thrones characters, the one about Tyrion being a Targaryen has been going strong for a while.

And now that season six has started airing, viewers have got some proof as well. The second episode titled "Home" hinted at the authenticity of the theory in a very convincing way. The moment appeared on screen when Tyrion decided to go to the dungeon to free the dragons.

As he tiptoed with a torch in his hand, it really felt eerie and fans were terrified for no one wanted Tyrion to die. But many were hopeful that the dragons would not harm him and this category included the fans who had faith in the Tyrion-Targaryen theory. And voila! The dragons did not hurt him at all.

It was really a sight to see The Imp talking in a calm tone to the dragons, expressing his desire how he wanted to have a dragon as birthday gift but was disappointed when his father told him that they had all died 100 years ago.

He told them how he cried to sleep and how happy he is now to see them. His story was quite fascinating and did seem to convince the dragons who did not eat him up. Tyrion not only unchained them successfully but also managed to come out unscathed.

According to reports, the entire scene has sparked off rumors that Tyrion is a Targaryen and not a Lannister. No one else other than Daenerys has been able to befriend them and the neutral way in which the fiery creatures responded to him is a good sign. He is very likely Targaryen blood.

It is also being suggetsed that the dragons left him unharmed not because he is a Targaryen but because he is one of the most popular characters on the show and the producers cannot do without him. Some are also saying that the smart dragons could sense that he was there to help. After all, didn't Tyrion say in the beginning - Don't eat help.

Looks like fans will have to wait for some more time before the truth comes out.
