After a patient and endless wait, Iron Man 4 shows positive signs of materializing, and Robert Downey, Jr. may be back once again.

According to reports Downey is all set to make a comeback to his iconic role of 'Iron Man.' Having said that, historical evidence shows that there is more than one thing for fans to be skeptical about. There have been previous occasions as well when Downey had hinted the possibility of the fourth edition of Iron Man which has, however, not materialized. In fact, majority of the fans have literally given up all hopes for Iron Man 4 as Downey made repeated comments on reprising his role in Iron Man. The report suggests that Downey expressed Civil War as his "little" Iron Man 4.

In addition to that, there has been past references as well by Downey which kind of settled down all the excitement of fans, and has negated all chances of the launch of another edition of the Iron Man. In an interview, Downey Jr. had revealed that there are no plans for the fourth Iron Man. Again, Downey made a flip and revealed that at another event that there would be the launch of Iron Man 4.

So, going by all these sentiments, there is sufficient uncertainty behind the launch of Iron Man 4. However, director John Favreau has said that edition fourth, if launched, would definitely see Robert Downey playing Iron Man once again. Downey prefers to go ahead with per film basis contracts. So, he has not signed a multi-film contract, which would mandate his presence in MCU films.

However, with Captain America: Civil War premiers on May 6, this year. So, fans do have something to enjoy.
