Dongjun's talent agency the Star Empire Entertainment officially confirmed a solo project for him. His agency stated, "ZE:A's member Kevin and Jung Heechul has already released their solo project, now Dongjun's solo project "Healing" will be released today (May 3), at midnight."

This solo track is a slow jam style of song and originally composed and written by Dongjun. This displays the love he has for his fans. Dongjun stated, "It's a great honor. Because of so much love and support my fans have for me, I am able to release my first solo song. I hope the beautiful melody and lyrics can give healing for many fans." (allkpop)

Previously, ZE:A's subgroup ZE:A J: Kevin, Heechul and Dongjun already released a Japanese album "Just Tonight" on April 20. This album doesn't only consist of Japanese tracks but they also include Korean versions of the songs to thank the fans for the continuous support.

Dongjun joined a nine-member group called "Children of Empire". In 2009, they started in Mnet "Children of Empire" and "Children of Empire Returns", where they tour the country doing guerilla performances. Later the group faced controversy in December following the similarities of the group's name to Brown Eyed Girls's Jea. The group later changed the pronunciation of the name to avoid implications.

On January 7, 2010, the group debuted with their EP, Nativity under the name ZE:A.

Dongjun isn't only good in singing but he also showcases his skills in acting. He appeared in various dramas taking the character both in leading and supporting role. He also appeared on various variety television shows.
