On April 21, Yesung of Super Junior appeared as a guest live on SBS Power FM's 'Cultwo Show', together with Korean idol group VIXX. During the broadcast, Super Junior member Yesung confirmed about the changing of his name by his mom without any permission of doing so. Yesung then was asked by the DJ to choose a name that he wanted for himself, the singer said, "I'll follow my mom's desire and go by the name Kim Jonghoon".

Yesung's fellow member Leeteuk, also a DJ of "Kiss the Radio" also talked about Yesung's changing of his name. DJ Leeteuk mentioned, "Yesung's real name is Kim Jongwoon. However, the Chinese character for 'Woon' means 'clouds,' and his mother thought that since clouds cast shadows, the name Jongwoon seems doesn't sound good." and so his mom changed his legal name Jongwoon to Jonghoon.

DJ Leeteuk continued, "So without asking Yesung's permission on changing his name, Yesung's mother went to the registrar's office and changed his name. She said she changed his name in the family register, too."

Leeteuk also opened up that Yesung's mother waited for three months before telling him that she changed his name. "Yesung's reaction was just, 'Mom, you did what?' So now, Yesung's legal name is Kim Jonghoon, and I hope that everyone will call him by his new name. No one knew, right?" (Soompi)

Meanwhile, Yesung just recently released his debut mini- solo album "Here I Am". Check the MV below!
