Tomb Raider Reboot will have Alicia Vikander playing Lara Croft. The actress has been reportedly signed after MGM and Warner Bros. spent several months in search for the right fit for the momentous role.

Alicia recently won an Oscar for her celebrated role in 'The Danish Girl'. She received profound acclaim for her work in last year's 'Ex Machina' where she played a scientist toiling against a merciless creator. According to reports, the upcoming movie from the Tomb Raider franchise will feature a younger, unproved Lara Croft, who braves her first adventure.

The latest film 'Reboot' is rightly named so considering the reboot of the titular character. It is not surprising that the film will follow suit, including the plot of the latest game version of Lara Croft which has fostered worldwide attention and acclaim from critics and gamers alike. The latest interpretation is tougher, less contemporary and less sexist.

Alicia is said to step into the character's metaphorical shoes by 2017. However, the script of the movie is said to have not been finalized, which could result in the movie to be pushed further into 2018 or even later.

The role of Lara Croft could prove beneficial for Alicia, who was unknown in Hollywood until a year ago. She has rooted herself with the release of her recent two films where she not only received recognition but also won an Oscar. Heading the Tomb Raider title was a huge deal for Angelina Jolie herself, who previously enacted Lara Croft, turning her into an international star.

The Tomb Raider series had a different version of Lara when it started out. However, it was in 2013 that the character matured and evolved. Once taken over by Square Enix, the feature of the New Lara Croft was witnessed in 'Rise of the Tomb Raider ' in 2013. It was here that a much younger, inexperienced and a gritty version of her was unfolded.

The new Lara is tenacious and resilient. If the movie is anything like it, Alicia would be enacting some tough scenes.
