Universal Pictures released Friday a video statement from Angelina Jolie explaining that she won't be able to attend the Hollywood premiere of her new film "Unbroken" due to chicken pox.

In the 39-second video released by Universal in Youtube, a very spotty Angelina explained in person why she will be a no-show at upcoming events to promote her new movie.

"I just wanted to be clear and honest about why I would be missing the Unbroken events in the next few days, which is that I found out last night that I have chicken pox.

"So, I will be home itching and missing everyone and I can't believe it because this film means so much to me. I just can't believe it, but such is life," said Jolie.

Universal, which described the actress as having a "mild bout" of the highly contagious infection, said Angelina will resume her press engagements "at the earliest opportunity," reported the Daily News.

"We all wish Angelina a speedy recovery and look forward to her returning to her work very soon. She is in very good spirits, considering after two years of hard work, she will not be there the night it finally premieres," the studio said in a statement.

Fortunately, hubby Brad Pitt and the couple's six children are well, and will be able to attend the movie's Los Angeles premiere on Monday (December 15), according to MTV.

Directed by Jolie and written by the Coen brothers, "Unbroken" is a WWII biopic based on the harrowing true story of Olympic distance runner Louis Zamperini (Skins actor Jack O'Connell ) and the incredible endurance he displayed while surviving a World War II bomber crash in the Pacific Ocean followed by years in a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp.

"Unbroken" opens in the UK on December 26.
