There had not been many positive news after the release of the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." But things are a bit different as its opening haul at the box office even breaks the record for a March release.

In the opening weekend, the movie's performance was outstanding and exceeded expectations. However, since the second week of its inception, the overall performance of the film declined to a large extent, and its current collection is expected to be a huge setback for the Warner Bros.

In addition to the revenues, the film could not garner much appreciation from its viewers and received a unanimous negative review since the day of its release. There was not much respite for the studio or for the members of the production house as well. And these factors were instrumental in labeling the 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' as a flop.

Having said that, the records show that the news of the failure and setback of the film has been far too exaggerated, which could be well concluded from the fact that the sequel has surpassed the box office revenue collections of both Iron Man and Iron Man 2. According to reports, 'Batman v Superman' collected revenues worth $5.4 million in the fifth weekend, which progresses the tally to $319 million which is well over the collections of Iron Man ($318 million) and Iron Man2 ($312 million).

The juxtaposition between Iron Man series and the 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' seems apt as Batman v Superman and the 2008 edition of Iron Man marked the starting point of the cinematic universe. Iron Man continued to amass $585.2 million of worldwide collection - a figure easily surpassed by Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, as it grossed $852.3 million.
