Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's social networking has helped fans know more news about the Baywatch, the film reboots. He has 49.9 million followers on Instagram alone (10.1 million on Twitter), Johnson's social media following is powerful and his messages are immediate. He's announced casting decisions through Instagram photos and revealed behind-the-scenes shots for the past nine weeks while he, Zac Efron, Priyanka Chopra, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach and Hannibal Buress work to turn the beloved TV series (that ran from 1989-2001) into a summer blockbuster.

Baywatch reboot has some exciting news:

David Hasselhoff is back!

He calls himself (the original Mitch Buchannon) is back, and Johnson's Instagram account was the one to break the news. In a post that called Hasselhoff "simply Still the f'n man," the Baywatch star welcomes back The Hoff, who "in the 90's he dominated slo-mo running on the beach with the most successful TV show of all time." Johnson will play Buchannon in the reboot out next May.

Johnson and Zac Efron finds Baywatch's lifeguard obstacle course a little tough.

Johnson explained that the course was "inspired by American Ninja Warrior meets World's Strongest Man. Idea that you will be physically and mentally tested to the limits, all while staying focused and being as calm as possible in extremely stressful situations."

In later posts, Johnson lays out his competition with Efron, who plays his fellow lifeguard Matt Brody, a role played by David Charvet in the TV series. The two lifeguards never seemed to settle their competitive streak.

Pamela Anderson is back

On April 22, he posted a photo with Baywatch's original CJ Parker (Pamela Anderson), announcing she will join Johnson in the big-screen squad. In the post, he said "She introduced the world to 'CJ Parker' and became one of the most iconic characters of a generation - for the most successful TV show of all time. A pleasure to welcome (as gorgeous as ever) Pamela Anderson to our #BAYWATCH cast."
