Ever since Dutchman Robin van Persie left Arsenal for Manchester United back in the summer of 2012, the North London team has struggler to replace him with a world class striker and all the replacements have proven to be woefully below par. However, it seems that their stubborn French manager Arsene Wenger has finally realised that his team is not going to get anywhere without a world class striker and the collapse in the current season due to a chronic shortage of goals is testament to that fact. He is now ready to go for a world class striker and according to an exclusive reports published by The Daily Star, the Gunners are interested in signing Paris Saint Germain's Swedish international star Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The famously tight fisted Arsenal manager, who is always on the look out for a cheap deal would be particularly happy since Ibrahimovic's contract with his club Paris Saint Germain will end at the end of the current football season and after that he would be available on a free transfer. Such a situation provdes Wenger and Arsenal with the perfect opportunity to finally sign up a world class striker without actually spending anything. However, on the other hand, it is importnat to point out that the primary reason why Ibrahimovic was not able to agree on a new deal with PSG was because of the fact that he is now 34 and probably has one more season of top level football left in him.

Ibrahimovic would not be a long term solution for Arsenal's striker situation but he would be able to provide world class quality to a stale and boring attacking line for a relatively lower cost. Manchester United are also rumoured to be interested in signing the striker who reportedely earns £250,000 a week at PSG. Arsenal should not have any problem in matching that salary considering the fact that he would be arriving on a free transfer and if the deal does go through, then Arsenal fans can hope to watch a world class striker playing for their team after a gap of 4 years.
