PSG Manager Laurent Blanc Linked With the Manchester United Job in Shock Twist
Till yesterday, it seemed that the managaer's job at Manchester United was going to go to Jose Mourinho and considering the fact that he had been linked to the job for more than a few months, it hardly came as a surprise when many outlets reported that the club were going to announce his appointment in the next couple of weeks. However, it seems that there has been a fresh change of heart at the board level at Manchester United and Jose Mourinho might actually be competing against current Paris Saint Germain manager Laurent Blanc for one of the most high profile jobs in European football. According to British tabloid The Sun, the Manchester United board are now considering hiring the PSG manager, who also played for the club in his playing days and one of the primary reasons for this change of heart lies in the coaching future of club legend Ryan Giggs.
Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Moore, two of the key figures at the board level at Manchester United had never been in favour of appointing Jose Mouinho and although it was reported that they had relented, it now seems that the club might reconsider their decision. They see Ryan Giggs as the future long term manager at the club and if Jose Mourinho is appointed, then he might remove Giggs from his position as the assistant manager since he will bring in his own people.
However, Blanc, on the other hand would be willing to work with Ryan Giggs as assistant manager just like Louis van Gaal and that might prove to be a better arrangement for the club. Although it is true that Mourinho has a better CV than Blanc, it cannot be denied that the French World Cup winner has shown that he can manage big clubs with mega budgets and is currently regarded among the most promising managers in the game. PSG are all set to appoint a new manager this year after Blanc failed to win the UEFA Champions League for the club and it seems that he could end up ruining Mourinho's long cherished dream of managing Manchester United.
