Even though the show fans are speculating that Game of Thrones may have spin-offs as it comes to a close soon after season 6, HBO programming president, Michael Lombardo, put all the guesswork to rest. He said that the network has no plans for the show spin-offs, but "if that were to happen it would have to come from [Benioff and Weiss] really feeling something, or [author George R.R. Martin] really feeling that it was the right thing to do."

According to Entertainment Weekly, it looks like spin-offs are indeed a possibility, as confirmed by George R. R. Martin and he is also already certain about the stories that are capable of becoming a spin-off.

"There is certainly no lack of material," Martin tells EW. "Every episode of The Naked City - one of the television shows I watched as a kid - ended with a voice-over: 'There are eight million stories in the naked city. This has been one of them.' There are eight million stories in Westeros as well ... and even more in Essos and the lands beyond. A whole world full of stories, waiting to be told... if indeed HBO is interested. The most natural follow-up would be an adaptation of my Dunk & Egg stories."

These fantasy novellas are set in the same space as Game of Thrones but goes 90 years back, following the adventure of Ser Duncan the Tall, future Kingsguard commander, and his squire, Prince Aegon "Egg" Targaryen - the future king of Westeros.

Martin has already thought of the best way to modify his novellas into TV shows. "Each of the novellas could easily be done as a two-hour stand-alone movie for television; that would probably be the ideal way to do them, rather than as an ongoing weekly series," Martin says.

Season 6 premiere of Game of Thrones, titled "The Red Woman," will air Sunday, April 24.
