A day after rumors that Apple is set to refresh its MacBook line of laptops, the Cupertino giant revised its line of ultra-thin laptops. The device now sports the latest Intel Skylake processors.

It was earlier reported that Apple could launch a refreshed MacBook at its March event but the company skipped the launch. Numerous reports later claimed that Apple would simply upgrade the MacBook but would also launch a revamped MacBook Pro 2016. Other reports also claimed that Apple would do away with the 'Air' brand to restrict its offering to the MacBook and its 'Pro' version.

Apple dropped enough hints that led many to guess that a revamp of MacBook was on the anvil. One report noted that Best Buy removed all of its 12-inch models from its online stores though a few were reportedly available at retail stores. The online retailer also offered $ 150 off on MacBook Air, which also received a RAM upgrade.

As part of the upgrade, MacBook buyers would get Skylake processors for the same cost as previous models. The 1.1 GHz core m3 MacBook with 8GB RAM and 256 GB storage with Retina display costs $ 1,299. Apple has however not changed the port offering on the laptop.

Though a developer's conference, the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) which is scheduled between June 13 and 17 may see Apple throw light on the new range of MacBooks to be introduced this year. The minor upgrade of MacBook Air may be an indication that Apple may not continue with the brand.

The speculation however is launch of MacBook Pro 2016 with Intel Skylake processors in an ultra-thin form factor is likely in September when Apple is expected to launch iPhone 7.
