It has been more than five decades since "The Twilight Zone" aired on CBS, a groundbreaking TV show that combined the elements of science fiction, drama and fantasy. Popular for being ahead of its times, the creation of Rod Serling was hailed by critics and the audience also loved its twist and turns.

And now the cult classic is back to the TV screens, but with a difference. According to reports, CBS intends to bring some more twists while keeping the soul of the original series intact. It will partner with Interlude to create games where viewers will get the chance to alter and adapt the story as per their thinking and beliefs.

What is more, Ken Levine, the reputed game developer, will be directing the pilot interactive episode. He is the man behind Bioshock, Bioshock Infinite and System Shock 2 games that are acclaimed for their reality-twisting storytelling where players are completely caught unawares and left shocked by the progressions.

According to reports, the work is in the initial stages as Levine is busy with his next project with publisher Take-Two. And the talks with Interlude have just begun. The scripting is yet to begin and both have not worked out the details.

It is worth mentioning here that "The Twilight Zone" has been already adapted into a feature film, comic book and radio series. The TV series that debuted in 1959 clocked five seasons and altogether 156 episodes were telecast, each featuring a singular story with shocking twists.

The stories were not just dramatic in nature; they also reflected the larger reality of the human life and conditions. Serling himself featured on the show, a little while after the introduction and at the end when his voice would offer closure to the inquisitive viewers after the climax.

And now that the iconic show is back, it is definitely going to create excitement among the new-age audience who might not have been at the time when the show was telecast, but have certainly grown up hearing the tales of the terrific twists.
