Fans panicked last week, when Ian Somerhalder said that the 'Vampire Diaries' show was ending after its next, eighth season. At Nashville's Walker Stalker Con, the actor told reporters, "We have decided to do one last season to really do the story justice."

Fans! Relax! It's not the end of the show. Here's the latest news. On Monday, however, Somerhalder clarified his comments on Twitter:

"Hey all, so... Last weekend I talked to an audience at a Q&A about the end of #TVD and how excited I was to make what I believe - my last year - be as great as possible," he wrote. "Somehow in my infinite wisdom and end-of-season foggy brain, I managed to make it sound like the show was coming to an end.

"Cut-to the press running stories that the show would be done after Season 8," he continued. "Thing is, the people who actually make that decision (the CW and WB) haven't made it yet! So let's take things one step at a time: Season 7 wrap, vacation, lots of sleep, let the writers get started on Season 8, and then we'll all see where we go from there. Until then, much love."

Fans have to take a deep breath, as the show won't be ending. It's Somerhalder who will be leaving the show. However, his fans will surely be affected. While it's a disturbing to lose Somerhalder, after Nina Dobrev bid farewell to Mystic Falls last year. But fans have one more season to look forward to. Ignoring it for some time fans can expect more thrill and horror in the coming season of Vampire Diaries.
