An alpha update for Minecraft Pocket Edition has been released and users can now test Realms.

Minecraft Realms lets users across platforms play the game. Users playing the Android version can engage with those running iOS and Windows. Additionally, Realms allows users to let their friends play even if they are not online. This is made possible as Realms is a paid service that facilitates owning a Mojang server. It must be noted the update 0.15.0 is alpha and users will have to signup for beta testing to download it.

Sans an official date for the final release of Minecraft 0.15.0, fans are speculating about features of the final impending update.

Some Reddit users speculate the new update could feature anti-aliasing, mod API resource packs command options, command blocks pistons and sticky pistons. Items that could be new to the update include raw mutton fire. New animation and mobs like dialogue skeleton-like mob with ragged clothing are expected to be exclusive to Minecraft PE 15.

In other Minecraft related news, Microsoft is expected to release a version of the game designed specifically for schools. Thanks to the creative mode in the game, young gamers in school can apply learning to build upon what they already know. Given the learning quotient, the game is expected to find easy acceptance among parents.

A CNET report also claimed that the Education Edition will be programmed in C++ and not Java, Mojang's language choice up until now. This implies no mods and command blocks until they are introduced exclusively by Microsoft.

Though it is not known when the Education Edition will release, about a hundred schools will start testing the game with more expected to join in June.

"During the summer months, we are also going to be focused on working with educators on building out lesson plans, sharing learning activity ideas and creating reusable projects," the company reportedly said.
