It goes without saying that Microsoft's Surface pro hybrid series have been the most exciting innovative releases in last few years. But will Surface Pro 5 do justice to the Surface Pro legacy?

The Surface Pro 4 released last October and was instantly christened as the "laptop killer." With that kind of success in the tow, Microsoft has already started the development of its descendant, Surface Pro 5.

Recent rumors suggest that the new iteration in Surface Pro series will be released in either June or October. As Surface Pro 3 was released in May 2015 and was soon followed by Surface Pro 4 in October, it is highly likely that the fifth in the series of Surface Pros will come out in October this year, given the state of its development.

According to the insider buzz, Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will contain larger display with 4K resolution, increased battery life, new stylus and a fingerprint sensor.

Microsoft has also reportedly filed a patent for a rechargeable Surface Pen that will likely replace the existing battery powered stylus. There will also be a Surface Dock to prevent the Surface Pen from being lost or misplaced when not being used.

The stipulated pricing of the new Surface Pro 5 will be similar to its predecessors. Chances are, just like Surface Pro 4, the device will start at $899.

For now, there is no official word from Microsoft that can confirm the release or development of Surface Pro 5. So far, all the news and updates are mere speculations and must be taken with a pinch of salt.
