Chelsea's plans of building a highly competitive squad for the 2016-17 season under new manager Antonio Conte has been started in earnest and if reports are to be believed then the West London are currently looking to seal a deal for Paris Saint Germain's Argentine attacker Javier Pastore. The Argentine player joined PSG from Italian Serie A side Palermo in 2011 for a fee of £30 million when the Parisian club went on a huge acquisition spree following Qatari investment but over the past few seasons his playing time has been curtailed a bit and Chelsea believe a deal could be done for the player who is still regarded as one of the best talents in the game.

Chelsea's incoming manager Anotnio Conte is also a long time admirer of the player and would like to make him the first summer purchase for the West London club, as they look to mount a serious challenge on all fronts in the 2016-17 season under the Italian manager. Although Pastore has not been a major part of PSG's doomed European campaign he has been one of the vital cogs in the team that won the French Ligue 1 this season in a canter and Chelsea believe that he is just the right sort of player for their misfiring side.

However, it is important to mention that Chelsea is not the only big club which is interested in signing the Argentine attacker and they might have to put in a substantial bid if they are to bring the player to Stamford Bridge this summer. It is understood that Manchester City is another English club which is interested in the player and could put in a counterbid. According to most source, a fee of £30 million would be enought for PSG to sanction the sale and it is expected the Chelsea will put in that sort of a soon in the coming days. Pastore's ability to score goals as well as create them at a consistent basis is one of the many reasons why he is so highly rated by most managers and Chelsea would certainly benefit from his skills next season.
