It's 2016 and Apple hasn't announced an update to its MacBook line-up yet. For prospective users wanting to join the Mac bandwagon waiting for this year's launch has been the most proffered advice on internet. For many however, last year's Mac is still good enough.

Sale of the MacBook Pro that was released last year continues to be robust if new users taking to Twitter is any indication. The MacBook Pro was launched in 13-inch and 15-inch variants that Apple is expected to upgrade this year. Additionally, the Cupertino giant is reportedly working on making them as thin as last year's MacBook.

This year's MacBook Pro is expected to be powered by Intel's latest, Skylake, which can drive high-end display while ensuring a longer battery life compared to last year's MacBook Pro. Inclusion of USB-C and thunderbolt 3 with more power in a slimmer form factor is reason enough to wait for the laptop likely to be released in June or September.

Forums as far back as from four months ago were abuzz about major changes to current MacBook Pro lineup. Those who sought advice on purchasing a MacBook were asked to wait.

"I have heard Apple will release the new version in March 2016 or so, which has the Skylake support. I can wait a few more months if the upgrade is noteworthy, so I wonder, is it really?" one Reddit user posted nearly four months. Microsoft had released its Surface Pro 4 with Skylake and it was certain that Apple's upgrade this year would be big. Most comments advised waiting. Clearly, a divide exists among prospective buyers.

MacBook Pro 2016 rumors have gained higher momentum in recent weeks. Numerous reports have emerged suggesting Apple would do away with MacBook Air. Instead, buyers would need to choose between MacBook and MacBook Pro. If the unveiling of iPad Pro in March is any indication, users waiting for a retina display MacBook Air are likely to be disappointed.
